The Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) was founded in 1986 to award the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist® (CDCES®) certification, originally known as Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certification. Beginning in January 2025, CBDCE proudly took on ownership and administration of the Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM®) program in conjunction with Meazure Learning.
The BC-ADM® certification provides recognition for the nurse, dietitian/dietitian nutritionist, pharmacist, PA (Physician Assistant/ Physician Associate) holding a relevant advanced degree or physician who skillfully manages complex patient needs and assists people at risk for and with diabetes and other cardiometabolic conditions with therapeutic problem-solving. Within their discipline's scope of practice and licensure, health professionals who hold the BC-ADM® certification may adjust (and in some cases, prescribe) medications, treat, and monitor acute and chronic complications and other comorbidities, counsel people living with diabetes on lifestyle modifications, address psychosocial issues, and participate in research and mentoring.

Scheduling begins when you receive the Notice to Schedule (NTS) email from Meazure Learning 30 days before your Examination window. BC-ADM testing windows are June and December. For scheduling policies, please reference the BC-ADM Examination Handbook.
